Local Babysitters & Mother’s Helpers
Both Mother’s Helpers and Local Babysitters must be requested through the Coastal Child Care App, making it easy to find care when you need it. Our Local Babysitters have 2+ years of childcare experience and are prepared to provide more independent care, while Mother’s Helpers may have little to no formal childcare experience, with experience often coming from younger siblings, church nurseries, babysitting, or helping family. Mother’s Helpers are designed to provide an extra set of hands.
Important: A parent or designated adult must be home and available at all times during a Mother’s Helper booking.

Coastal Child Care Booking Fee: A $20 booking fee per day, per booking applies to both Local Babysitter and Mother’s Helper bookings. This fee is automatically charged to the card on file in the Coastal Child Care App only when the shift is accepted by a caregiver.
Caregiver Payment: Families pay their caregiver directly the rates listed below at the end of each shift via cash, Venmo, or another electronic payment method (2 hour minimum booking).
Mileage Reimbursement: If your caregiver will be driving your children, please discuss and arrange mileage reimbursement in advance. Any mileage reimbursement is paid directly to the caregiver.
Holiday Tip: We recommend a $20 tip on holidays and holiday weekends as a thank-you for the caregiver's time.

How to Book
Important: While we are able to fill most requested shifts, we cannot guarantee that a caregiver will be available for every booking. That’s why you will not be charged for your booking until a qualified caregiver accepts your request.

Concierge Service
Concierge Booking Fee: $50 per shift per day, with a minimum of 2 shifts. The fee is automatically charged to the card on file when a caregiver is assigned to the shift (you are never charged before a caregiver is confirmed and the shift is assigned). For bookings of more than 20 consecutive shifts (short term nanny), a 50% discount applies to all concierge booking fees after the 20th shift.
Multiple Caregivers: When more than one caregiver is needed for the same shift, the fee is $50 for the first caregiver + $25 for each additional caregiver.
Caregiver Rates: The same rates as our Local Babysitter service, paid directly to the caregiver via cash, Venmo, or another electronic payment method. However, families may choose to offer a higher hourly rate and/or a travel bonus as an additional incentive, which can be especially helpful when filling shifts in the Outer Banks.
How To Book: Simply create a Coastal profile and email us at info@coastalchildcare.com your full schedule, and our team will coordinate your care from start to finish.
Important: We do our best to coordinate the same one to two caregivers throughout your booking, but caregiver availability and shift completion cannot be guaranteed. The earlier you submit your schedule, the better we can accommodate your care needs.

All Occasional Care Services
Cancellations & Last-Minute Requests

Coastal Child Care Booking Fee: The $20 booking fee is non-refundable, but if you cancel your booking, the fee will be issued as a credit to your Coastal Child Care family profile to use toward a future booking.
Cancellation Within 36 Hours: If you cancel within 36 hours of your scheduled start time and a caregiver has already accepted your shift, a $25 cancellation fee will apply.
No Caregiver Assigned: If a caregiver has not yet accepted your shift, no booking fee or cancellation fee will be charged. If you no longer need the care, we recommend cancelling the request rather than leaving it open. If a caregiver later accepts the shift if left open, the booking fee will be charged.
Last-Minute Bookings: Bookings requested less than 24 hours in advance include a non-refundable $10 last-minute fee, whether or not the shift is ultimately filled. This fee helps cover the additional administrative time and effort required to conduct a last-minute caregiver search.
