Your child and family is our top priority! At Coastal Child Care, we maintain a stringent screening process for all our child care providers, ensuring your peace of mind. 

Our Screening Process Includes:

A minimum of FIVE years of child care experience

Minimum of three interviews

Infant Safe Sleep certifications
Comprehensive criminal background checks
Verification of social security numbers and addresses
National sex offender registry searches
CPR and First Aid certifications on file, regularly updated to prevent expiration

Coastal orientation and trainings 

Verification of professional job references
Willingness to undergo random drug testing upon family request

Kaitlyn

  • The visionary Founder and CEO of Coastal! With a rich background in child care, she's on a mission to create a positive and enriching childcare experience for both clients and caregivers.

  • Experience in Childcare: Extensive experience in daycare, preschool teaching, babysitting, public school substitute teaching, and long-term nanny services.

  • Education: Holds a Bachelors Degree in Psychology and Children's Rights from Old Dominion University.

  • Specialized Skills: Proficient in multiple areas, including sleep training, early childhood sign language, fine motor skill exercises, sensory activities, Montessori methods, safe sleep, and positive/gentle parenting techniques.

Maeleah

  • As the Hiring Manager and Placement Coordinator, she has the privilege of connecting passionate families and caregivers who share the love for creating a nurturing and engaging environment for children. 

  • Experience in Childcare: Started babysitting at a young age and followed love for childcare and became a teacher!

  • Education: Holds a degree in Psychology and Elementary Education.

  • Passion for Children: Demonstrated a long-standing love for children and childcare.

  • Teaching Experience: Previously taught First Grade and PreK in the Tidewater region.

  • Adaptability: Bring a unique perspective as a licensed teacher. 

  • A proud wife and mother of two incredible daughters!

Karen

  • With a firm belief in building relationships, meet our Family Services Consultant! After many years of professional preschool and childcare experience, and raising 4 children, Karen is working her way towards retirement. However, after so many years in the field, she just can't give it up!

  • Experience in Childcare: Over 23 years of professional preschool and childcare experience, including roles as a Preschool Teacher, Afterschool Childcare Provider,  Preschool/Summer Childcare/Program Assistant Director overseeing 50 employees and 150 families. 

  • Education: Childhood Early Education Classes at Tidewater Community College, Infant and Childhood Safety Course with Virginia Department of Education and the Department of Social Services, Medical Administration Training with the State of Virginia, Virginia's Foundation Blocks for Early Learning, and many other trainings in Preschool Education, Developmental Education, Milestones, and Creating Age Appropriate Lesson Plans.

  • Specialized Skills: Organizational skills, administration, communication, parent relationships, infant sign language, gross and fine motor skills exercises, pre-handwriting skills and activities, science and math activities, indoor and outdoor exercise and activities, and arts/crafts.
